The Fruit of Good and Evil

Affirmation

I am lifted to freedom to express my divine nature and I deny evil for good. ~Maria McAuliffe, RScP, Center for Spiritual Living Greater Boston

Reading

Living the Science of Mind, by Dr. Ernest Holmes, pg. 354. A portion of that reading is...

[T]his problem [of evil] is solved only in such degree as we realize that evil is never a thing in itself or of itself. It is merely a limited use of perhaps a misuse of a Creative Power which is Complete and Perfect within Itself. If we can feel it is something the human being has created through ignorance, rather than something that is ordained and predetermined, we shall be in a better position to combat it.

Fear and Punishment

Affirmation

I am inoculated with faith and the fear germ has disappeared. ~Martine Bernard, Practitioner Intern, Center for Spiritual Living Greater Boston

Reading

Living the Science of Mind, by Dr. Ernest Holmes, pg. 359. A portion of that reading is...

The world is too largely governed by fear...There is no doubt that this is true, and we should do something about it...What I mean is that each one of us should analyze his own thinking to determine what is wrong, and replace every fear with faith and confidence... For in the act of prayer and meditation we commune with the invisible Spirit; we draw Its Strength, Its Peace, and Its Serenity into our own souls.

If the Blind Lead the Blind

Affirmation

I am a unique expression in the creative consciousness and accept all as unique in the mind of God. ~Lee Ann Nixon, Practitioner Intern, Center for Spiritual Living Greater Boston

Reading

Living the Science of Mind, by Dr. Ernest Holmes, pg. 388. A portion of that reading is...

We will be helped over many a difficulty if we realize that an emotional bias does create a mental blind spot...And again we come right back to the fundamental proposition that the problems we face are not external; they are within. They are not some other person's fault; neither are they necessarily our own fault. They are the fault of ignorance, from which enlightenment alone can free us.

Transference

Affirmation

I am secure knowing I am whole, all others are whole, as God within us is whole. ~Carol Thomas, Practitioner Intern, Center for Spiritual Living  Greater Boston

Reading

Living the Science of Mind, by Dr. Ernest Holmes, pg. 390. A portion of that reading is...

No matter what the external object may be in which we place our security or possibility of happiness, we shall never become whole until we have separated all negative reactions from that object, because wholeness is within the self and nowhere else.

The individual security is within the self. Recognizing the same security within others, we work and play with them in gladness. We are whole and they are whole, because God in us is whole.
